In March 2026, the VirusBank Platform attended the European Defence Fund (EDF) Info Days, an informative event dedicated to the EDF’s evolving funding landscape and the opportunities it presents for research and innovation organisations across Europe.
The Info Days offered a valuable opportunity to gain a clearer picture of the EDF’s strategic direction and upcoming calls, and to better understand where collaborative research efforts are being prioritised at a European level. For VirusBank Platform, it was a chance to explore how our capabilities align with the challenges these calls are designed to address, particularly in areas such as CBRN threats, smart and multifunctional materials, and non-thematic research actions.
As an organisation with ISO-aligned expertise in virology, advanced in vitro and animal models, and one of the largest compound libraries in the field, VirusBank Platform is well positioned to contribute to the kind of multidisciplinary, applied research that the EDF aims to support.
Beyond the programme itself, the event proved to be a rich networking experience, with unexpected reconnections with familiar faces and the chance to meet new people working across the European defence research landscape.
